Meet our Dogs

Callie is an English Springer Spaniel, and she started training slightly later (when she was 1yrs old) and began work at Les Voies as the very first school therapy dog here in Guernsey.

Her confidence and calm nature helps her thrive as a school therapy dog. She loves the children and working (especially because she gets to spend all day with her owner).

Callie has had one litter of pups - Haze, Walt and Cyan are all well on the way to becoming wonderful therapy dogs too.

Freya is nearly 2 and is a locally bred Tri Border Collie.  Freya has been shown in the Breed Shows in Guernsey, Jersey and the UK  and last year Qualified for Crufts.  Freya is training to do Competitive Obedience, and has competed in Guernsey and the UK and has passed her Kennel Club Bronze Good Citizen Award, working towards Silver and Gold.  Freya has also passed the IDTC Basic Obedience Certificate.

Freya just loves to work and gets very excited.  She loves being out with the rest of the dogs in the Patois/LesNuages pack.

Freya learnt to swim this year.  When not working/playing she like nothing better than curling up with her cuddly at my feet.

Freya is currently training to be a Visiting dog.

Diesel is a four year old black Australian labradoodle and really is a bit of an old man at heart. He is very caring and can often be found at someone’s side especially if they need a cuddle. He is generally a very chilled out dude.

He likes listening to people read especially if they find it difficult to get motivated as he has plenty of patience and practice.

He also loves to go on adventures, learning new tricks at dog training and make new friends.

He is currently in training to become a visiting dog and is very much hoping to make some new friends in school soon.

Nacho is a tri-coloured long haired Chihuahua, she might be small but she has a big personality.

Nacho is in training to be a level 2 visiting therapy dog, she has passed her level 1 assessment and will hopeful take her level 2 very soon.

This little Chihuahua loves visiting the nursing homes and will happily sit on all the residents laps and have lots of fuss and cuddles (and the occasional biscuit crumb or two!) The homes all ask after her so we wouldn't like to visit without her, there would be some very sad people - staff as well as residents.

Is a 3 year old St Bernard cross.  He is a gentle giant who loves attention and cuddles.

He currently visits Forest Primary School each week as a visiting therapy dog, where he listens to children read and sometimes plays the role of patient in doctor/vet games.

He also visits Le Rondin School and loves it when the children sing to him.  Fred’s calm and patient nature relaxes everyone around him (including the teachers!) and he often dozes with his head on someone’s lap.

His favourite things are long walks, swimming in the sea and sleeping.

Lucy is a 5 and a half year old tri coloured, Cavalier King Charles. She is a very happy, loving and loyal companion who has been a great support to her owner and family over the years.

She enjoys nothing more than being with you wherever you go even to the bathroom.  Lucy has been going to training classes since she was a puppy and very much enjoys learning.

Her favourite place to be is curled up on a lap asleep. She is currently training to be a visiting dog and loves getting attention and fuss almost as much as she loves treats (Almost!).

Is a one year old English Springer spaniel - the brother to Haze and Cyan.

Walt is a very loving companion, he was never picked for being a visiting dog or potential assistance dog but has shown a unique talent which grows as his confidence does.

His training is going well and he likes to fetch and carry things. He stays by his owners side when I she is unwell and makes sure that she is protected.

He is another of Callies pups so he has come from a very special mum.

Rocco is an 8 month old Long haired tri chihuahua, he is working as a therapy dog and part of Safer (a domestic abuse charity). His training is going well at the current time and he brightens up the refuge on a daily basis to both staff and residents.

Rocco knows his job and loves comforting children/ young people who are often talking about distressing domestic violence incidents.

In sessions with the Children/ Young people ages 5-17 he helps keep them calm and relaxed. Stroking Rocco helps them deal with the trauma and releases endorphins. He is also allowed into police interview rooms.

Rocco is often found burying his treats in the garden or in his bed at the refuge as well as at home.  Rocco loves meeting people and other dogs in his downtime, he thoroughly enjoys walks, mental stimulation and loves his cuddles of an evening with his family.

Haze is a 1 year old English Springer Spaniel, she is following in her mum (Callie’s) foot steps and is working at les Voies school as a school therapy dog.

Her training has gone well and she knows her job, she loves comforting the students and will seek out the students who need her. In class she helps keep the students focused, calm and quiet - helping create the best kind of learning environment which encourages learning.

Haze is often found sunbathing in the sunlit corridor areas but enjoys curling up under the students desks for well earned rests. In her down time she loves playing ball and going for runs on the headlands.

Cyan is an 1 year old English Springer Spaniel. I’ve know Cyan since she was a few hours old and we have had a strong bond ever since.

Her training is both challenging but very rewarding and she loves attending weekly classes at Island Dog Training Club and with PFS, where she is mastering skills and tricks to achieve her full potential. She is maturing into a loving companion who can always be found by my side wherever I go.

In her down time Cyan loves going for a run, meeting new dogs and carrying objects around the house, especially her teddy or the odd tea towel, and at the end of the day curling up for a cuddle.

She is currently training to be a visiting dog and is Callie’s daughter, and Haze’s and Walt’s Sister.

Taco is in the very early stages of the therapy dog training to be a visiting dog. She is a chocolate and tan long haired Chihuahua, Taco has a very big personality and enjoys strutting her stuff in the breed show ring when she isn't bullying the other dogs she lives with.

Her favourite past time is to find the back of one of the sleeping

spaniels or the German Shepherd she lives with and lie on top of them or pinching the biggest bed so the big dogs have to try and curl up in the smaller ones.

Taco likes the attention she gets on the visits and will happily sit on laps to get lots of strokes.

Beau is nearly 8 months old and is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel .

He is learning to be an assistant dog (the very first for PFS) to help his owner in everyday situations, but most importantly he is a family pet and best friend.

He is great with children and other dogs but still gets a bit excited especially if there is a pigeon in sight , he has a favorite teddy who goes most places with him, even at bedtime.

Beau has learnt a few tricks so far while training and is ready to learn more to get his treats.

Evie is a very loveable cockapoo who was rehomed when she was just under a year old.

She has bags of energy and adores her owners other rescue dog, a lurcher called Annie. They are both super fast and enjoy chasing around fields, beaches and lying in the sunshine and playing together.

Evie is excellent with all the family including their son, who is enjoying helping with her training.

Guilbert is an 8 year old French bull dog with a calm and patient nature.

He might look a bit strange or grumpy but he is an extremely gentle dog and is much loved by the pupils of St. Martin’s School where he works as a regular visitor! He has a huge fan base and children are always very keen to read him a story!

Sometimes pupils come to him for comfort when they are stressed and Guilbert has been known to make even the most frightened child feel safe and relaxed. Guilbert has helped to foster a growth mind set and the children can see that hard work , resilience and bravery really pay off.

Guilbert has learnt many new things alongside his human students... including how to give his paw and to swim .

Cookie is one year old Sprocker and an individual therapy dog for her handler Harry.

Cookie was specially selected for Harry, at just 6 weeks old, due to her wonderfully brave and kind personality. Harry has missed a lot of school recently, due to complex medical issues including autism, but Cookie will be by his side when he begins college in September.

The world is a better place for the whole family, with Cookie easing anxieties and always providing cuddles. In her spare time she enjoys long cliff walks and bouncing in long grass. Cookie is also a keen sock collector

Rizzo is a 12 week old Sprocker who is training to be a visiting dog.

She is the daughter of Ryka and granddaughter of Echo who all live together in the pack. She loves cuddles and has been well socialised already. Her attention work is coming on and she knows how to sit and down.

Rizzo loves playing around with the rest of the dogs at home and cuddling up with her owners at the end of the day.

Ryka is a 4 year old Sprocker. She is a very loving dog, who loves to roll on her back and get tummy tickles. She started as a School Therapy dog but found her calling as a Visiting Therapy Dog.

She adores going into nursing homes where she can perform her tricks and get lots of fuss.

Ryka is very food focused and will try very hard to work out what you want to earn one. Her favourite trick is to walk backwards but spinning and jumping into her owners arms comes a close second.

Two of Ryka's daughters Rizzo and Cookie are both on their way to becoming great therapy dogs like her.

Dexter is a 2 year old English Mastiff who currently weighs 98kg, which is approx 15.5 stone and are the heaviest of all dog breeds. Mastiffs normally have a short smooth coat, but Dexter has a wonderful fluffy coat so he is known as 'Fluffies'

Dexter loves to visit the beach. When he’s not playing chase he loves to paddle in the sea, no matter how cold it is. He enjoys lots of cuddles and attention and particularly likes a good belly rub. Dexter is a gentle giant and because of his size and his fluffy coat a lot of people say he looks more like a big teddy bear rather than a dog. He is currently in training to become a visiting dog and is looking forward to being able to visit schools and nursing homes.

Kobe is a 1 year old Goldendoodle. His owner brought him and two of his siblings over from Devon when he was 10 weeks old. Always learning new tricks and obedience with Island Dog Training Club and Paws For Support, and training with interactive play games with his family.

You will find him at his owners photography studio chilling out while she works at her computer or posing in front of the camera!

Ebony is a 3 year old Sprocker who's mum Ryka is also a therapy dog. Her owner wasn't planning on getting another dog but after seeing a photo she fell in love and the rest is history! She lives with another dog called Tilly.

Ebony does obedience training at the Island Dog Training Club and is extremely keen to learn anything new and does everything at 100 miles an hour! She enjoys her training so much she loves to be given jobs to do even if that includes picking up articles for her owner and helping with the recycling. In her down time Ebony loves the beach and tries to get the ball before Tilly does.
She is currently training to be a visiting therapy dog.

Inca is a 2 year old black Labrador Retriever. She was bred in England and her mum and dad are both gun dogs.

Inca is an enthusiastic dog who loves meeting new people when she is out and about with her owner, going on long walks whatever the weather and playing on the beach with her best friend Lucy, a golden retriever.

Inca is a very happy dog and has won two rosettes for waggiest tail! She is also a loyal companion and loves to curl up by your feet in the evening.
Inca loves learning new commands and tricks at the Island Dog Training Club and is starting to train as a visiting therapy dog.

Otis is an 8-month old Sprocker and is following in his mum Ryka and sisters Rizzo and Coco's footsteps. He is the first PFS dog working in Sark.

He is very affectionate, bright and intelligent, and loves his treats so he is very focused when training with his owner Lorraine, grasping new commands very quickly. He thinks it’s great fun to play noisy tug and rough and tumble games with his adopted Springer sister, Maggie, and he loves pinching whatever toy she is playing with as well especially the odd slipper, shoe or toilet roll! He’s a non-stop little pocket rocket who likes to wander around holding his right ear in his mouth like a pacifier, and adores having a loving cuddle or 2 at the end of a busy day.
He is training to be a visiting therapy dog for Sark School, and already really enjoys his trips to school and being with ‘his’ pupils when they are reading to him.

Coco is a 9 month old Sprocker. Her mum Ryka is already a visiting therapy dog and her sister Rizzo and brother Otis are in training too.

She attends weekly classes at Island Dog Training Club, where she learns new tricks with her owners  and is always waiting for the next command. She is sometimes seen as the crazy Sprocker who does everything at super speed, but she loves settling down with her owners little boy in the evenings.
In her down time she loves stealing socks, having tummy rubs and cuddling with her favourite teddy.
She is currently training to be a visiting therapy dog

Ava is a 5 year old German Shepherd Dog.
She has attended dog training at the iDTC since she was a puppy . She is an energetic dog who needs to keep her mind occupied by learning new things. Her training has been huge learning curve for Heather but very fulfilling.

When she’s not training Ava loves the beach (but only when it’s calm), rolling in mud, going camping and exploring new places with Heather such as Ireland, the New Forest, the Cotswolds, the Lake District and Loch Ness . Ava is training to be a visiting dog.

Vlad is a 6 month old German Shepherd Dog who joined his owner when he was 3 months old. She has been thinking of getting another dog and the opportunity came along just at the right time.

Vlad is an easy going puppy who loves his food which makes training that much easier. He has not long passed his Puppy Training at Island Dog Training Club and is going well so far.
Vlad enjoys playing with his sister Ava and generally following her around when he’s not lying on his back or stealing shoes.
Vlad is training to be a visiting dog.

Betty is a 10 month old working cocker spaniel. She finds everything and everyone hugely exciting and interesting and enjoys loves being out and about meeting people with her owner.

Betty is extremely affectionate and likes doing almost anything she can do with her family, especially running on the beach at low tide, or finding things and bringing them back. Betty has been attending obedience and agility classes at the Island Dog Training Club since September, and is currently training with Paws for Support to be a visiting dog.

Teddy is a 2 year old Cockapoo. Teddy turned out a lot bigger than his owner Mandy expected but she wouldn't change him! He loves meeting people and often happy to sit and be stroked by anyone that stops and say hello. Teddy even won Most Handsome dog in a fun dog show.

He loves to go for long walks with all his doggy mates and adores a muddy puddle, the muddier the better or even swim or dip in the sea if no mud available!
Teddy is training to be a visiting therapy dog

Toffee is a 7 year old Golden Retriever who came to Guernsey when she was 8 weeks old. She attends training classes with her owner Jane at Island Dog Training Club and PFS and are both proud to have achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold Kennel Club Good Citizen awards.

Her calm and confident nature with people means she always has people coming over for a pat where ever she is. Toffee has a very good repertoire of tricks and continues to add to these including skateboarding. She loves water whether swimming in the sea, a pond or any puddle will do finishing off with a good roll in the sand!
Toffee is training to be a visiting therapy dog.

Tango is 4 month old Golden Retriever puppy. She has already started training at the Island Dog Training Club and is building her confidence to start training with PFS. She has already shown big sister Toffee that tuggy games are best played with a lot of noise but is still small enough to curl up in her owner Jane's lap when she has had a busy day.

She is lively and seemingly quick to learn - her favourite pastime is anything that involves food; she will try very hard to work out how to earn treats, to the point of ignoring the bedtime toilet routine just to get the biscuit in bed!
Tango is training to be a visiting therapy dog.

Ralph is a 5 year old Cavapoo who came to Guernsey when he was 10 weeks old. Ralph loves snoozing with various teddies to keep him company. When he isn’t snoozing he loves spending time with his owner on the beach, playing around and exploring the rock pools.

When Ralph was a puppy he trained with the Island Dog Training Club and picked up a few tricks and will be enhancing his training with PFS. He still likes to perform a trick or two...as long as there is food involved!
Ralph is training to be a visiting therapy dog.

Mr Darcy

Mr Darcy is an 11 month old Golden Labradoodle. His owner Judy meet him at just 10 days old and visited him around 4 times before she was able to bring him home.
As a family who only had cats, the arrival of Mr Darcy was a big difference, with him growing into one large dog crossed between a polar bear and an Angus bull! He can be excitable but in fact he is a gentle giant, most of the time.
He loves his freedom on the beach and in a local field, but he also enjoys his training with PFS. He loves being groomed which happens daily to avoid matting and is happy with a bath and the hair drier as long as he gets a treat afterwards.
Mr Darcy is training to be a visiting therapy dog.
