Meet our Dogs
Callie is an English Springer Spaniel, and she started training slightly later (when she was 1yrs old) and began work at Les Voies as the very first school therapy dog here in Guernsey.
Her confidence and calm nature helps her thrive as a school therapy dog. She loves the children and working (especially because she gets to spend all day with her owner).
Callie has had one litter of pups - Haze, Walt and Cyan are all well on the way to becoming wonderful therapy dogs too.
Freya is nearly 2 and is a locally bred Tri Border Collie. Freya has been shown in the Breed Shows in Guernsey, Jersey and the UK and last year Qualified for Crufts. Freya is training to do Competitive Obedience, and has competed in Guernsey and the UK and has passed her Kennel Club Bronze Good Citizen Award, working towards Silver and Gold. Freya has also passed the IDTC Basic Obedience Certificate.
Freya just loves to work and gets very excited. She loves being out with the rest of the dogs in the Patois/LesNuages pack.
Freya learnt to swim this year. When not working/playing she like nothing better than curling up with her cuddly at my feet.
Freya is currently training to be a Visiting dog.
Diesel is a four year old black Australian labradoodle and really is a bit of an old man at heart. He is very caring and can often be found at someone’s side especially if they need a cuddle. He is generally a very chilled out dude.
He likes listening to people read especially if they find it difficult to get motivated as he has plenty of patience and practice.
He also loves to go on adventures, learning new tricks at dog training and make new friends.
He is currently in training to become a visiting dog and is very much hoping to make some new friends in school soon.
Nacho is a tri-coloured long haired Chihuahua, she might be small but she has a big personality.
Nacho is in training to be a level 2 visiting therapy dog, she has passed her level 1 assessment and will hopeful take her level 2 very soon.
This little Chihuahua loves visiting the nursing homes and will happily sit on all the residents laps and have lots of fuss and cuddles (and the occasional biscuit crumb or two!) The homes all ask after her so we wouldn't like to visit without her, there would be some very sad people - staff as well as residents.
Is a 3 year old St Bernard cross. He is a gentle giant who loves attention and cuddles.
He currently visits Forest Primary School each week as a visiting therapy dog, where he listens to children read and sometimes plays the role of patient in doctor/vet games.
He also visits Le Rondin School and loves it when the children sing to him. Fred’s calm and patient nature relaxes everyone around him (including the teachers!) and he often dozes with his head on someone’s lap.
His favourite things are long walks, swimming in the sea and sleeping.
Lucy is a 5 and a half year old tri coloured, Cavalier King Charles. She is a very happy, loving and loyal companion who has been a great support to her owner and family over the years.
She enjoys nothing more than being with you wherever you go even to the bathroom. Lucy has been going to training classes since she was a puppy and very much enjoys learning.
Her favourite place to be is curled up on a lap asleep. She is currently training to be a visiting dog and loves getting attention and fuss almost as much as she loves treats (Almost!).
Is a one year old English Springer spaniel - the brother to Haze and Cyan.
Walt is a very loving companion, he was never picked for being a visiting dog or potential assistance dog but has shown a unique talent which grows as his confidence does.
His training is going well and he likes to fetch and carry things. He stays by his owners side when I she is unwell and makes sure that she is protected.
He is another of Callies pups so he has come from a very special mum.
Rocco is an 8 month old Long haired tri chihuahua, he is working as a therapy dog and part of Safer (a domestic abuse charity). His training is going well at the current time and he brightens up the refuge on a daily basis to both staff and residents.
Rocco knows his job and loves comforting children/ young people who are often talking about distressing domestic violence incidents.
In sessions with the Children/ Young people ages 5-17 he helps keep them calm and relaxed. Stroking Rocco helps them deal with the trauma and releases endorphins. He is also allowed into police interview rooms.
Rocco is often found burying his treats in the garden or in his bed at the refuge as well as at home. Rocco loves meeting people and other dogs in his downtime, he thoroughly enjoys walks, mental stimulation and loves his cuddles of an evening with his family.
Haze is a 1 year old English Springer Spaniel, she is following in her mum (Callie’s) foot steps and is working at les Voies school as a school therapy dog.
Her training has gone well and she knows her job, she loves comforting the students and will seek out the students who need her. In class she helps keep the students focused, calm and quiet - helping create the best kind of learning environment which encourages learning.
Haze is often found sunbathing in the sunlit corridor areas but enjoys curling up under the students desks for well earned rests. In her down time she loves playing ball and going for runs on the headlands.
Cyan is an 1 year old English Springer Spaniel. I’ve know Cyan since she was a few hours old and we have had a strong bond ever since.
Her training is both challenging but very rewarding and she loves attending weekly classes at Island Dog Training Club and with PFS, where she is mastering skills and tricks to achieve her full potential. She is maturing into a loving companion who can always be found by my side wherever I go.
In her down time Cyan loves going for a run, meeting new dogs and carrying objects around the house, especially her teddy or the odd tea towel, and at the end of the day curling up for a cuddle.
She is currently training to be a visiting dog and is Callie’s daughter, and Haze’s and Walt’s Sister.
Taco is in the very early stages of the therapy dog training to be a visiting dog. She is a chocolate and tan long haired Chihuahua, Taco has a very big personality and enjoys strutting her stuff in the breed show ring when she isn't bullying the other dogs she lives with.
Her favourite past time is to find the back of one of the sleeping
spaniels or the German Shepherd she lives with and lie on top of them or pinching the biggest bed so the big dogs have to try and curl up in the smaller ones.
Taco likes the attention she gets on the visits and will happily sit on laps to get lots of strokes.
Beau is nearly 8 months old and is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel .
He is learning to be an assistant dog (the very first for PFS) to help his owner in everyday situations, but most importantly he is a family pet and best friend.

Evie is excellent with all the family including their son, who is enjoying helping with her training.

He might look a bit strange or grumpy but he is an extremely gentle dog and is much loved by the pupils of St. Martin’s School where he works as a regular visitor! He has a huge fan base and children are always very keen to read him a story!
Sometimes pupils come to him for comfort when they are stressed and Guilbert has been known to make even the most frightened child feel safe and relaxed. Guilbert has helped to foster a growth mind set and the children can see that hard work , resilience and bravery really pay off.
Guilbert has learnt many new things alongside his human students... including how to give his paw and to swim .
Cookie is one year old Sprocker and an individual therapy dog for her handler Harry.
Cookie was specially selected for Harry, at just 6 weeks old, due to her wonderfully brave and kind personality. Harry has missed a lot of school recently, due to complex medical issues including autism, but Cookie will be by his side when he begins college in September.

Ryka is a 4 year old Sprocker. She is a very loving dog, who loves to roll on her back and get tummy tickles. She started as a School Therapy dog but found her calling as a Visiting Therapy Dog.
She adores going into nursing homes where she can perform her tricks and get lots of fuss.
Ryka is very food focused and will try very hard to work out what you want to earn one. Her favourite trick is to walk backwards but spinning and jumping into her owners arms comes a close second.
Two of Ryka's daughters Rizzo and Cookie are both on their way to becoming great therapy dogs like her.

Ava is a 5 year old German Shepherd Dog.
She has attended dog training at the iDTC since she was a puppy . She is an energetic dog who needs to keep her mind occupied by learning new things. Her training has been huge learning curve for Heather but very fulfilling.

Mr Darcy is an 11 month old Golden Labradoodle. His owner Judy meet him at just 10 days old and visited him around 4 times before she was able to bring him home.

He loves his freedom on the beach and in a local field, but he also enjoys his training with PFS. He loves being groomed which happens daily to avoid matting and is happy with a bath and the hair drier as long as he gets a treat afterwards.
Mr Darcy is training to be a visiting therapy dog.
